Siri Carpenter is a freelance science writer and editor based in Madison, Wisc. Her writing and editorial work has appeared in Science News, Scientific American, Science, The New York Times, Discover, bioGraphic and many other publications. She has a Ph.D. in social psychology and is a longtime part of the Science News family, having been an intern at the magazine in 1999. She is also co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Open Notebook, a non-profit website for science journalists, and editor of the book The Craft of Science Writing.
